WP7Contrib – Bing Service Wrapper Part IV Location Simplified Posted: 23 Aug 2011 06:23 AM PDT Based on feedback around my first post in this series of talking about how to use Location I thought that I would revisit how you can use this really cool bit of stuff in your app. When I first wrote the original post it was much more bare bones however...( read more )...(read more) |

SlowCheetah - Web.config Transformation Syntax now generalized for any XML configuration file Posted: 23 Aug 2011 01:49 AM PDT I did a post last year called If You're Using XCopy, You're Doing It Wrong that also included a video of my talk at Mix10 where I show how to deploy website with Web Deploy. One of the cooler not-very-well-known features is called Web.config Transformation. Once folks see it, then immediately want a general solution. First, from the previous post: You can right-click on your web.config and click "Add Config Transforms." When you do this, you'll get a web.debug.config and a web.release.config. You can make a web.whatever.config if you like, as long as the name lines up with a configuration profile. These files are just the changes you want made, not a complete copy of your web.config. You might think you'd want to use...(read more) |

Posted: 22 Aug 2011 01:23 PM PDT For best performance, SQL Server implicitly uses a parallel execution logic for SQL queries (SELECT), but SQL Server has no integrated support for performing parallel data modification operations. SQL Parallel Boost facilitates the parallel execution of any data modification operations (UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE), making best use of all available CPU resources. The preliminary job dispatching supports various job splitting rules: even, or no split if count of rows affected is below a predefined threshold. The parallel execution supports statement related priority settings. Potential deadlocking situations are handled automatically (retry). The execution of queued (waiting) activities can be indirectly cancelled thru optional timeout values. |
